Abstract
TAMA is a Japanese joint project to build a 300 m baseline interferometer called TAMA300 which is now under construction at Mitaka, Tokyo. The motivation for this project is to develop techniques that are necessary for a future kilometre-sized interferometric detector and to catch any rare events occurring in nearby galaxies. The project, the interferometer and the construction status are reported in this paper. Keywords
