Ureteropelvic Obstruction in Adults with Previously Normal Pyelograms: A Report of 5 Cases

Abstract
Ureteropelvic obstruction usually is thought to be congenital. However, 5 cases of ureteropelvic junction obstruction are presented, which document acquired obstruction in adults who previously had normal pyelograms. The etiology of this development is unclear. Continued follow-up and periodic re-evaluation of patients with unexplained urinary symptoms or persistent flank pain are emphasized, even when the initial pyelograms are normal.
