Abstract
Measurements were made of the efflux of 22Na and 3H-water in 5 spp. of Crustacea [Hyas araneus, Macropipus depurator, Carcinus maenas, Leander squilla, Astacus fluviatilis]. Marine species were more permeable to Na and water than were freshwater crayfish. A correlation between Na and water permeabilities was seen among individuals within a species and also among different species. The nature of the membrane is discussed in the light of water and ionic permeabilities.
