The Measurement of Low Energy X-Rays I: General Considerations

Abstract
Consideration is given to the measurement of the energy fluence of a low energy (50 kv maximum) X-ray beam. A research program is outlined in which a total absorption calorimeter, chemical dosimetry and gaseous and solid state ionization dosimeters are used to measure this energy fluence. Theoretical formulae are derived to calculate the fluorescent and scattering energy losses from these measuring devices.
