Erythropoietic Stimulating Factor (ESF) as a Stimulant of Tumor Growth.

Abstract
Four experimental procedures were used to promote ESF (erythropoietic stimulating factor) production as evaluated by Fe59 uptake. The procedures used to prepare the ESF extracts were those described by Borsook and the procedure described by White. Endogenous ESF production was stimulated by partial hepatectomy or cobalt chloride. The ESF resulting from the above procedures is capable of stimulating Novikoff hepatoma growth in rats.
