SOME EFFECTS OF ADRENOCORTICOTROPIC HORMONE IN VARIOUS HYPO-OVARIAN STATES. II. PRIMARY AMENORRHEA, SURGICAL CASTRATION, AND THE MENOPAUSE*

Abstract
ACTH was admd. for 7-10 days to 8 women with presumable complete absence of ovarian function. Uterine bleeding subsequent to this treatment occurred in only 1 patient. The metabolic effects of ACTH in these cases did not differ from those previously reported. The presence or absence of the ovaries did not appear to influence the effect of ACTH on urinary pregnanediol excretion.
