Abstract
Compton profiles of amorphous carbon and graphite have been measured in an electron microscope with an energy-loss spectrometer. From these results the reciprocal form factors for graphite have been calculated and are compared with the results of pseudo-potential and molecular-orbital calculations. Dynamical effects have been observed in the Compton profiles of graphite and aluminium where the scattering takes place preferentially from electrons near the atomic planes when the sample is oriented close to the Laue condition or between the atomic planes when the sample is oriented close to the Bragg condition. These measurements are shown to be consistent with the interaction produced by calculated current densities derived from dynamical theory. Keywords
