Abstract
Failure of radiopaque material to enter the duodenum during post-choledochotomy operative cholangiography in over 50% of patients, and the surgical problems arising from this finding were discussed. This phenomenon may result from spasm or edema at the choledochal (Boyden''s) sphincter or of the duodenal wall Itself, and not at the sphincter of Oddi. The relationship of 17751-17764 DIGESTIVE SYSTEM [Vol. 49] 1576 reflux into the pancreatic duct to spasm of the choledochal and ampullary (Oddi) sphincters has also been considered. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
