Abstract
The electronic states in a model amorphous metal (dense random packing hard-sphere model) are studied in the cases of orthogonal and nonorthogonal atomic orbitals. Compared to the infinite FCC crystal, the density of states shows relatively small change in the bandwidth and the L point singularity seems to be preserved. Peak positions are, however, seen to shift towards the lower-energy side. A 'roton' like behaviour in the wave vector-dependent spectra is also found. These features are discussed in detail by comparison with the FCC case. Keywords
