Abstract
By approximating Wigner 3-j and 6-j coefficients for the coupling of large angular momenta, simplified expressions have been obtained for angular distributions in the excitation of rotational states in resonant electron molecule reactions. These simplifications have given rise to a useful classification of rotational transitions of linear molecules into branches, each of which has a characteristic energy loss spectrum and angular distribution. Keywords
