Abstract
Presentation of Case* First admission. A thirty-two-year-old construction worker entered the hospital because of pain in the chest.Seven months previously the patient was in a parked automobile that was struck from behind by another car. The left elbow and arm were slightly injured, but there was no apparent trauma to any other part of the body. Later that day there was a sudden onset of severe sharp pain in the left arm, neck and shoulder. Partial relief was obtained with traction while he was at rest and with a neck collar while he was ambulatory. The pain lasted . . .
