Light Source, Excitation, and High Temperature Cell Assembly for Raman Spectroscopy

Abstract
A Toronto-style light source and the excitation circuit designed for use with a Hilger E612 recording Raman spectrometer in this laboratory are described. The electrical circuits and accessories are designed for automatic or manual start and with safety devices for protection in event of various component failures. For measurements on specimens at elevated temperatures, a simple cell assembly capable of use at temperatures up to 575 °C with a gradient of not more than ±5°C at the maximum temperature limit is described.
