Determination of the Nuclear Symmetry Energy at 9.8 MeV. I. Experiment and Results

Abstract

The absolute differential cross sections for 9.8-MeV protons elastically scattered from ${\mathrm{Sn}}^{112}$, ${\mathrm{Sn}}^{116}$, ${\mathrm{Sn}}^{120}$, and ${\mathrm{Sn}}^{124}$ were measured with an accuracy of ±3%. The angular range of the measurements was 25° to 160°.
