Abstract
Three sources of [long dash] SH were used: tissues, glutathione or organ extracts, and a de-hydrogenase solution. All of these sources yielded H2S after addition of 8, but dehydrogenase produced very little. An increase in temp. resulted in promotion of H2S formation and decrease of the [long dash]SH content of tissue. The optimum production is at about the neutral point. Citrate gives the largest increase in H2S production. It is concluded that the H2S production in living tissue after addition of S is not due to enzymes.
