Species previously assigned to Protostegia are redescribed and illustrated. The type species of the genus, P. eucleae, is retained. P. pleromatum is transfered to Phloeosporella. Two new genera, SPOGOTTERIA and AURANTIOSACCULUS are proposed for Protostegia magnoliae and P. eucalypti, respectively. The 2 remaining taxa, P. autumnalis and P. pusilla, are rejected as nomina confusa and dubia, respectively. New combinations described include A. eucalypti [Protostegia eucalypti Cooke et Massee], S. magnoliae [P. magnoliae Saccardo] and Phloeosporella pleromatum [Protostegia pleromatum Spegazzini].
