Automatic fraction collectors and a conductivity recorder

Abstract
Three types of automatic fraction collectors working on essentially the same principles are described, all of which can be easily constructed in any laboratory workshop. A conductivity recorder is described that provides automatic registration of the changes in electrical conductivity of the stationary aqueous phase of a partition chromatogram together with the volume of effluent passing through the column. An example of the application of an automatic fraction collector and the conductivity recorder to the analysis of a mixture of penicillins is described.
