THE EFFECT OF ULTRA-VIOLET RADIATION ON BLOOD FORMATION IN YOUNG PIGS

Abstract
Two groups of pigs were kept until 35 days of age. Beginning at 1 day of age, 1 group was exposed daily (except Sundays) to the rays of a mercury vapor quartz lamp. The 2nd group received no ultra-violet light, but part of them were placed outside on a concrete floor, at stated intervals during the day. The outside exposure had some beneficial effect; the ultra-violet light had none so far as hematopoiesis was concerned.
