Resonance CaptureγRays from Platinum

Abstract
The high-energy gamma rays following neutron capture in a platinum target have been studied at the Brookhaven-AECL fast chopper facility at Chalk River. The transitions to the 0+ ground state and the first two excited 2+ states in Pt196 have been measured for 15 resonances from 11.9 to 296 eV. Relative transition probabilities for these cases have been determined and are compared to the chi-squared class of probability distribution functions.
