Glutathione Peroxidase Activity in the Bovine Corneal Endothelium

Abstract

Cytoplasmic glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activity was consistently greater in bovine corneal endothelium compared to bovine corneal epithelium and whole lens. Freezing reduced the activity in all tissues examined. Triton X-100 increased GPx activity in the presence of sodium azide, but had no significant effects in its absence.
