Abstract
Rates of blood flow expressed per unit weight of tissue have been determined in the isolated perfused cow udder. An improved apparatus was used, enclosed in a Perspex cabinet, to enable the air surrounding the udder to be kept warm and moist, and also making the apparatus safe for work with C14-labeled compounds. All manipulations are carried out by remote control. In 6 out of 24 experiments, the rate of blood flow exceeded 20 ml/100 gm tissue/min., and the highest value observed was 26.4 ml/100 gm/min.
