Appropriate scores for clinical and public health variables.

Abstract

A procedure which deals with a situation where disease frequency or severity can be expressed by several variables, in which one is chosen or several are weighted for analysis can mean some loss of information, and the question arises concerning the magnitude of the loss. Appropriate scoring for several dependent variables is discussed and 3 examples illustrate its application.
