Abstract
Summary and Conclusions Sufficient experience has accumulated during the past 20 years to establish the value of intestinal antisepsis as a simple, practical procedure. Neomycin has become the basic constituent of proved intestinal antiseptic combinations. The combination, neomycin-sulfathalidine, has enjoyed a long term of success, essentially free of serious hazards and having rapid broad spectrum action, limited absorption by the intestinal tract, low toxicity and is uncomplicated by development of resistant organisms. Patients fall into three therapeutic groups. The dosage schedules are simple. The advantages are definite and specific.
