Perifollicular Fibromas

Abstract
The subject of this report is a group of five cases having papular lesions about the head and neck and showing the pathological changes of a benign fibroma with a striking perifollicular arrangement of the collagen fibers. Burnier and Rejsek1 reported the case of a 56-year-old woman with numerous small papules on the neck in which the pathology was that of a fibroma with a perifollicular pattern. We have been unable to find any further reference to such an entity in the literature since that time, at least not under the heading of "Fibroma, perifollicular." Since 1952, the diagnosis of perifollicular fibroma has been made on five biopsy specimens from a total of over 17,000 accessions. We would therefore regard this condition as a relatively rare one.
