Light Scattering from a Plasma in a Magnetic Field

Abstract
The scattering of light from plasmas embedded in a homogeneous magnetic field B0 is analyzed. In the geometry where the momentum (wave vector) transferred to the system is perpendicular to B0, we discuss influence of the Bernstein and upper hybrid modes on the scattering. The analysis is done in some detail for a wide range of plasma parameters. Particular emphasis is placed on possible interesting experimentally observable phenomena in both gaseous and solid-state plasmas.
