Abstract
Chromosome studies are reported in 9 cases of acute granulocytic leukemia in adults. In 5 of these, no significant chromosome abnormality was found. In one individual, the leukemic cells had 45 chromosomes including an abnormally large acrocentric chromosome. In the remaining 3 individuals, the leukemic cells all had 47 chromosomes with the extra chromosome in the #7 to 12 group. Clinically and hematologically these S patients did not constitute a recognizable subgroup. The findings indicate that acute granulocytic leukemia is not characterized by a consistent specific chromosome abnormality, but that in some of these individuals remarkably similar chromosome changes may occur. Keywords
