Abstract
The relation between the fractal geometry of reactant trajectories and the rate of diffusion-controlled reactions is considered. A new possible mechanism for the effect of an external electric field on the rate of reactions is proposed on the basis of this consideration. The proposed mechanism predicts an increase in the rate constant with increasing electric field strength. Experiments in the literature which may be related with the proposed mechanism are surveyed. Finally directions in future extensions of the present study are suggested. Keywords
