Hauser-Feshbach Theory and Ericson Fluctuations in the Presence of Direct Reactions

Abstract
Neglecting level-level correlations, we show that consistency conditions derived from general properties of the matrix determine the distribution of resonance parameters. This is also true in the presence of direct reactions. Formulas are given for average cross sections, autocorrelation, and cross-correlation functions.
