All-optical multiplexing of femtosecond signals using an AlGaAs nonlinear directional coupler

Abstract

The authors demonstrate multiplexing of femtosecond signals without the usual 3 dB loss of conventional passive multiplexers using an AlGaAs nonlinear directional coupler controlled by strong pump pulses.
