Abstract
The paper presents the differential equation system of buckling of shallow sandwich shells with thick faces in the case of general anisotropy. A closed form solution is derived for the determination of the buckling load which can be applied for a wide range of cases. It is also shown that, in the case of isotropic shells, the effect of shearing defor mation can be taken into account in many cases analogously to Föppl's formula. Keywords
