Abstract
Investigation of sediment cores representing a depth range of 300 to 1400 m, indicates that the distribution of benthonic Foraminifera as well as surface sediments is strongly related to the past and present hydrography of the area. In postglacial sediments, a faunal and sedimentological boundary appears to be coincidental with the lower limit of the Atlantic water (The Norwegian Current) at 500-700 m depth.
