This monograph reports on the different approaches taken within the International Federation of Clinical Chemist [the Expert Panel on Quantities and Units and the Expert Panel on Enzymes] on how to transform a measured rate of reaction in a separate assay system, where the enzyme catalyses a suitable process, into a reported result for some property of the enzyme in the person yielding the specimen.
