Monte Carlo Study of the Eguchi-Kawai Model

Abstract

The Eguchi-Kawai model is studied by using the Monte Carlo technique with the gauge groups $\mathrm{SU}\mathrm{}\left(N\right)\mathrm{}$, $N=2, 3, 4, 5, \mathrm{and} 10$. Clear evidence of spontaneous breaking of the $Z_N$ symmetry is observed in the weak-coupling region for $N=10\mathrm{}$.
