Abstract
The allowed electric dipole transitions and in heliumlike argon () have been observed in a foil-excited beam with a vacuum-ultraviolet monochromator. The wavelengths of these transitions were measured, and the lifetimes of the excited states determined by a time-of-flight technique. The results are Å, Å, sec, and sec.
