Radiative decay from the2P23and2P03levels of heliumlike argon

Abstract
The allowed electric dipole transitions 2P232S13 and 2P032S13 in heliumlike argon (Ar+16) have been observed in a foil-excited beam with a vacuum-ultraviolet monochromator. The wavelengths of these transitions were measured, and the lifetimes of the excited states determined by a time-of-flight technique. The results are λ(2P232S13)=560.2±0.9 Å, λ(2P032S13)=660.7±1.1 Å, τ(2P23)=1.62±0.08×109 sec, and τ(2P03)=4.87±0.44×109 sec.
