THE HYDROGEN-ABSTRACTION REACTIONS IN THE PHOTOLYSIS OF PENTAFLUOROPROPANAL AND HEPTAFLUOROBUTANAL

Abstract

The main products of the photolysis of the aldehydes at 3130 Å were determined and the rates of H-atom abstraction relative to radical recombination were measured. They are [Formula: see text] for C2F5CHO, and [Formula: see text] for C3F7CHO. The derived Arrhenius parameters are compared with those determined in the photolysis of CF3CHO, and also with the non-fluorinated aldehydes.
