Radiative transitions and isospin mixing inC12

Abstract
γ-ray decays of the 12.7 and 16.1 MeV states of C12 are investigated in a coincidence study of the B10(He3, pγ) reaction. We obtain Γγ0Γ=(1.93±0.12)%, Γγ1Γγ0=(15.0±1.8)% and ΓαΓ=(97.8±0.1)% for C12(12.7), and Γγ1Γ=(2.42±0.29)×103 for C12(16.1). Relative γ-ray branching ratios of C12(16.1) were measured using the Ep=163 keV B11(p, γ) resonance. We find Γγ0Γγ1=(4.6±0.7)%, Γγ(16.19.6)Γγ1=(2.4±0.4)%, and Γγ(16.1±12.7)Γγ1=(1.46±0.25)%. This information, together with existing data on M1 transitions and single nucleon transfer reactions, is used to determine the isospin mixing between the 12.7 and 15.1 MeV levels of C12. A charge dependent matrix element of 110 ± 30 keV is deduced.
