Abstract
We investigate p¯p annihilation into B¯B (where B and B represent baryons) via q¯q annihilation into Q¯Q (where q and Q represent quarks). Specifying the q¯q (or q¯Q) annihilation spin structure determines the ratios of all polarized amplitudes with B, B from the 56 under SU(6). We propose to parametrize q¯qQ¯Q by intermediate gluon and meson states. The model with q¯qonegluonQ¯Q with Q=s is worked out in detail. With the exception of p¯pΣ¯Σ*+ + charge conjugate, it compares favorably with experiment.
