The Low-Temperature Freezing of Malaria Parasites

Abstract
Summary A method of preserving malaria parasites by freezing is described which has many advantages over any method of cultivation, if preservation alone is the object. It is reliable, and easily carried out, and requires little and inexpensive apparatus. There is no reason to believe that the method is not equally useful for all species of malaria parasites, and in the present work it has been tried successfully with species of avian malaria. The length of time through which viability may be maintained is not yet known, but in the experiments herein described it has reached 212 days so far.
