Enhancement of Dielectronic Recombination by Plasma Electric Microfields

Abstract
An investigation has been made of the l-redistribution effect of quasistatic ion electric microfields on dielectronic recombination. Using the linear-Stark-effect approximation, a hydrogen ion density of 1014 cm3 is found to produce a threefold enhancement in the rate for the dielectronic recombination process Fe+23(2s)+eFe+22(2p,nl)Fe+22(2s,nl)+ω.
