RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INCREASES IN PLASMA CORTISOL CONCENTRATION AND RATE OF CORTISOL SECRETION DURING EXERCISE IN MAN

Abstract
Data from 10 experiments on normal men who exercised for 1 h at constant work loads exceeding 65% .hivin.VO2 max [maximum aerobic power] after receiving [3H] cortisol was analyzed. Despite the effects of exercise on the rate of cortisol removal, serial measurement of plasma cortisol concentration gives a useful indication of changes in the rate of cortisol secretion, and of the time when such changes occur.
