Problems in the Evaluation of Nutritional Status in Chronic Illness

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to describe the difficulties in devising methods for the comprehensive study of the role of nutrition in chronic illness. By combination of the methods, longitudinal studies of the role of food can be carried out. It is our conviction that such longitudinal studies, supported by additional, more highly refined technics for determining metabolic function, are the key to the eventual determination of the role of food in chronic illness.
