Osteogenic Sarcoma

Abstract
1. One hundred and thirty-two osteogenic sarcomata from the Bristol Bone Tumour Registry are analysed. 2. Ninety-eight arose in apparently normal bone, two in fibrous dysplasia and 32 in Paget's disease. 3. Osteogenic sarcoma is defined and the different histological types enumerated. 4. The gross pathology, the age, site of origin, clinical symptoms and sex distribution, together with a method of histological grading of the degree of malignancy, are given. 5. The radiological appearances, with special emphasis on the features seen on the first radiographs, are analysed and an attempt made to correlate the radiological appearances with the histological types of tumour. 6. The mean survival times of the series are given.
