Mortality Among Treated Alcoholics. A Three-Year Follow-Up Study

Abstract

A 3-year mortality experience among a group of 676 treated alcoholic patients in California has been described, and selected comparisons between the decedents and the total study group were made. The observed deaths and death rates were substantially in excess of the expected numbers and rates. The value of the State Health Department Death Registry as a tool in studying mortality among follow-up groups was emphasized.
