The extent of subsidence of an organic soil at the Agriculture Canada substation at Saint Clothilde was measured. The soil is classified as a humic, euic, cool, subaquic, limnic mesisol and is typical of organic soils found in southwestern Quebec [Canada]. Assuming the present rate of subsidence and croppong practice continues, total soil depletion is predicted within 44 yr.
