A Paper Chromatographic Separation of Gibberellic Acid and Gibberellin A.

Abstract
The upper phase of a mixture of 10 volumes benzene, 2.5 volumes glacial acetic acid, and 5 volumes deionized water will separate gibberellic acid and gibberellin A. These compounds are detected by spraying the chromatogram with a 0.5% aqueous solution of potassium permanganate. This procedure furnishes an easy method for detection of gibberellin A in gibberellic acid preparations.
