Abstract
A gallium arsenide laser was used as an optical sweep generator to display the 8521‐Å hyperfine lines of an atomic cesium beam. The largest contribution to the displayed over‐all linewidths of about 60 MHz is due to the atomic beam divergence of the order of 5°.Keywords
