Abstract
The true extent of fetal loss has been unknown. An estimate of approximately 30% of conceptions lost during pregnancy is here made, with highest loss rates considered to occur immediately after conception and increasing probability of a live born infant as pregnancy advances. The method used was follow-up of pregnant women from the time when medical care was first sought to termination of pregnancy. From this experience, a life table to fetal loss was constructed.
