B Lymphocytes in the Thymus of Patients with Myasthenia Gravis

Abstract

To the Editor: We read with interest the paper of Abdou et al. (N Engl J Med 291:1271–1275, 1974). Using the E-rosetting technic,¹ we found in three normal thymusesa mean value (±S.E.M.) of 93.4 ± 1.4 per cent of T lymphocytes, as compared to a value of 95.2 ± 1.0 per cent after neuraminidase treatment of the sheep erythrocytes.¹ We also investigated the T:B ratio in three patients with myasthenia gravis, histologic study of whose thymuses showed hyperplasia with lymphoid follicles in the medulla.
