In 1961 work was initiated to develop methods and equipment for rearing the navel orangeworm, Paramyelois transitella (Walker), in large numbers preparatory to the laboratory rearing of imported parasites to be used in the field against this pest. Methods and equipment that were developed are described and operational procedures involved in the successful rearing of this host insect are given.
