Isolation of a Virus (Wad Medani) from Rhipicephalus Sanguineus Collected in Sudan

Abstract
Summary A virus isolated in 1952 from Rhipicephalus sanguineus collected on sheep in Sudan has been designated “Wad Medani” (Ar 492). It is pathogenic to infant mice and may be propagated by parenteral inoculation in both hard and soft ticks. It therefore appears to qualify as an arbovirus.
