Abstract
Some recent progress in the accuracy of determination of the 4f part of the hyperfine field in cubic intermetallic compounds, by using NMR quadrupolar splittings results, has enabled a more accurate determination of the self-polarisation field Hsp. The latter is investigated in the cubic ferromagnetic rare earth Al2 and rare earth Zn series. It is shown that in these series the general tendency of Hsp is to increase proportionally with (Sz) the total 4f spin of the rare earth. An upper limit of the orbital and of the dipole polarisations of the 5d conduction electrons around the rare earth is then obtained and is found to be in good agreement with a simple linear response theory.
